5 Ways to Get Out of Your Head
Being too “in your head” is sabotaging your life.
What comes with it? Overthinking, anxiety, self-doubt, indecisiveness, lack of confidence, and more.
The vast majority of people in modern western culture live in their head (the ego mind). It’s an over-analytical state that often becomes loops of recurring thoughts.
We’ve all seen the signs when people are too in their head:
Lack of presence
Impatience
Stressed
Anxious
Self-conscious
Over-analyzing everything
It’s not useful, or fun, to be stuck in your head.
So what’s the solution? To ground into your body and open up your “higher mind” (which is creative and intuitive, yet still uses logic).
Here’s how…
5 Ways to Get Out of Your Head
These are five simple — and effective — practices you can do throughout the day.
1: Feel into your feet
Put your feet flat on the floor and bring your awareness into your feet.
Feel the life force energy in your feet. Inhabit your feet with your consciousness.
This is a quick way to get out of your head, ground into your body and access higher intelligence.
2: Conscious breathing
Take a few slow, deep breaths into your belly.
Feel the air moving through your lungs.
Allow your body and mind to relax.
Just a few breaths will get you out of your head and into more enjoyable and productive states of being.
3: Time in nature
Just being outside helps get you out of your head.
Open environments tend to open your consciousness.
Take a daily walk outside to get out of your head and open up new possibilities for yourself.
4: Journaling
Journal your stream of consciousness.
Don’t judge or edit yourself. Just let the words flow.
When you do this, you will physically see your thought patterns, and as a result be more able to transcend (trance-end) them.
5: Consume less information
Over-consuming information keeps you in your head.
The constant stream of social media, news, videos, podcasts and tv creates information overload.
Your information consumption is a form of diet. If you intake too much, too often, you’re going to be mentally obese (aka stuck in your head and overthinking).
Here’s how to become more masterful with how you relate to information:
Consume less information
Be intentional with the information you consume
Avoid low quality “junk” information
Create more space in your life to just BE (meditation, time in nature, contemplation, journaling, etc)
Do more things that don’t involve consuming information
Create more than you consume (art, writing, business, building something with your own two hands, etc)
Note: This is the topic of my upcoming book, Information Alchemy. Stay tuned ;)
Try out these five practices.
It will help you get out of your head and trance-end the self-sabotaging patterns that come with it (overthinking, anxiety, self-doubt, indecisiveness, lack of confidence, impatience, stress, etc).
Ground into your body.
Feel your aliveness.
Allow your higher mind to emerge.
