This is a poem I wrote about how the creative process brings up all of your shit, to refine who you are.
It applies to anyone creating anything meaningful: artists, writers, entrepreneurs, healers, etc. It’s the ultimate character builder and catalyst of soul growth as a human.
Soul-Stormatics of Creation
When you seek to bare your soul
You must first pay your toll
The pressure of your own darkness
First weighs upon your mind
Heavier than heaviness itself
You think it crushes you
The sheer mass of your own patterns
Squeezing-squeezing-squeezing
Can you bear it?
Just at your point of peak hopelessness
(Something opens)
The weight is lifted
And you’re gifted gold
Your humanness = Alchemized
You relish this new level
Renewed vigor, confidence
You create with the lightning of Spirit
And the passion of burning stars
Until
You get comfortable
The blanket of comfort
Morphsssssss
Becoming heavier and heavier
Here’s the squeeze again
Just as terrifying as the first time
But you lean into it
Something within you says,
“There’s gold on the other side”
So you let the weight crush you
.
You wake up
And realize what was crushed
Wasn’t the real you
:
Here you stand
Present, humble
Purified, evolved
So you think
Yet you know
Another round ever-awaits
Why?
You’ve chosen to create something
Something meaningful
You’ve chosen to bare your soul
And in doing so
You must first pay your toll
You will be refined by the gravity of this realm
The mass of mass itself
This is your mass
Life is your temple of worship
You thought it was a warship
The tempestial vessel
Little by little
Learns to sail
Unfazed through phases
With buoyant equanimity
Through the storm
Straight. Through. The. Storm
Aho.
